Giants Injury Report

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Quick injury report for now before tomorrow’s preview show:

Derrick Ward (out last week) did not practice yesterday. Neither did
Plaxico Burress (surprise surprise) or Antonio Pierce who was out with
a mild concussion, so we’ll have to keep that monitored. Coughlin
feels like he should play though.

Also of note, Osi Umenyiora lost a sack when a two-yard sack of Tony
Romo was changed to a rush for minus-two yards, so he goes back down
to 8.

Tune in tomorrow for a preview of the Giants and Lions!

Mid-Week Review

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Tom Coughlin said yesterday, “At no time during the course of this year, after any of the six wins, have we ever dwelled on yesterday.” So on that note we will effectively forget about the Dallas Disaster and look forward to the upcoming Detroit Destruction. A few quick things that have already come to light about the Detroit game upcoming:

  • Both teams are 6-3, and Detroit is undefeated at home

  • The Giants are number 1 in the league with 32 sacks, and Detroit is tied for 3rd with 26. However, the lions are last in the league in sacks allowed by far with 40. Sucks for Jon Kitna.
  • The Lions are ranked 29th in the NFL in rushing offense, and the Giants are 10th in rushing defense. In fact, the Cardinals, yes the Cardinals, held the Lions to minus-18 rushing yards last week. Good matchup there.
  • Giants rookie and first-round draft pick Aaron Ross is matching up against fellow rookie and first-rounder Calvin Johnson.
  • Both teams, at 6-3, are trailing division leaders who are 8-1. The Lions are trailing the Packers, and…well I promised we wouldn’t discuss “yesterday,” so I will just leave it at you know who the Giants trail.

Why Even Play The Game If You’re Going To Let The Other Team Win? Wait, There’s A Flag…

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

The Giants lost to the Cowboys 31-20 today, mostly due to untimely penalties. Eli decided this week he’s going to take longer than usual to call his plays, because he’s just that cool, but he forgot to tell the refs about to add time to the play clock. 3 delay-of-game penalties showed the lack of urgency and concentration by the Giants offense today, not to mention shredding #2 of the defense by Tony Romo and company. Not as surprising are the Giants’ holding penalties. As long as I have been a Giants fan, holding penalties have been part of our gameplan, but not when they take away 2 TD’s! Listen to our recap episode coming out tomorrow for a full analysis of the game and a look at the rest of Big Blue’s season which, as much as I and all Giants fans feel is over right now, is very much alive and well.

Preview of Giants vs. Cowboys

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Gameday tomorrow! A few notes for tomorrow’s clash of the NFC East titans:

  • Giants fans will be seeing red tomorrow - literally. Big Blue will
be Big Red as the Giants wear their alternate red jerseys tomorrow.
As the home page of giants.com says, be sure to wear red if you are
going to the game. (Oddly enough, the Giants wore red last year in
    this game and lost.)
  • First time in 14 years the Giants and Cowboys have played this late
in the season with the division on the line. If that doesn’t tell you
how big this game is, you have no brain.
  • Last 7-game winning streak in Giants history: 1990

INJURY REPORT

Steve Smith is out with a hamstring injury and Derrick Ward doubtful
with ankle and groin injuries for the Giants. Expect Sinorice Moss
and Ahmad Bradshaw to be the #3 guys at WR and RB, respectively.
Plaxico is questionable for the 6th straight time. Expect him to play
and play well.

For the ‘Boys, Terry Glenn is still out and that’s about their only
notable one. Isiaah Stanbeck is questionable if anyone cares.

Go Giants!
