Giants Sign Vet Knight
posted by Kyle on March 3rd, 2008
Sammy “Good” Knight has signed with the Giants. He provides a veteran presence in the Giants secondary to pair up with Sam Madison, and is a stopgap at safety following the departure of Gibril Wilson to the Raiders. Knight is 3rd in career receptions among active players. In his 11-year career so far, Knight has played for New Orleans, Miami, Kansas City, and Jacksonville. He and James Butler are both strong safeties, so one of them will have to move to free safety. Knight currently has a 156-regular-season-game streak going, the 14th-longest active streak.

Good stopgap signing. Knight is a smart player and he’s been around for a while…what strikes me as a surprise is it’s a 3-year deal, but that’s the NFL for you, I’m sure it’s not all guaranteed anyway.
