Great post Kevin.

The FA losses are disappointing, but I have all the confidence in the world that Reese knows what he's doing, and that last year wasn't a fluke. Look at all the starters and/or contributing players they plucked from the draft last year. It'll be a lot tougher for Reese with the last pick in every round but I'm sure he can find some more gems. The Giants have been in some talks with FAs as well and I don't expect them to end the period without inking anyone.

Great ... now the Birdsbrains are really going to go nuts. At least when they try to gloat about getting Samuel, I can retort with "we got Lombardi."

Reese's minimalist approach to free agency seemed disappointing last summer, but all of his acquisitions were effective in their first (and, in one case, only) year with the team.

That being said, watching Mitchell, Wilson, and Torbor walk is painful. Part of me is getting antsy. I keep looking for Adam Schefter to say "the Giants have signed ... " I'm like that bratty kid in the toy department. "I want a free agent, Mommy. Buy me a free agent RIGHT NOW!"

The key to being a fan of Big Blue is to always have a little faith. (If you have a lot of faith, you usually wind up disappointed, as we've seen in XVI of the past XVII years!)

So in the absence of big news from Adam Schefter, I'll just have to rely on my little faith. I don't know if he can bat 1000 two years in a row, but I think the second batch of Jerry's kids will do very well.
